The 2025 Stanley Cup Finals are here. It's a rematch of last year's finals, the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers. The Panthers won last year's Cup in 7 games after nearly blowing a 3-0 series lead. Let's see what this year's matchup will bring.
The Panthers, being the defending champs and two-time defending Eastern Conference champs, finisged with 98 points, 3rd in the Atlantic Division. They took on their Sunshine State rival, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and thrashed them in 5 games. They then took on the Toronto Maple Leafs, and beat them in 7, capped with a 6-1 win in Game 7. They then took out the Hurricanes in 5 games. They have a stacked roster, from top to bottom, led by Aleksander Barkov, Brad Marchand and Matthew Tkachuk. They are a formidable team, and they could be considered a dynasty soon.
The Oilers finished on 101 points, 3rd in the Pacific Division. For the 4th straight year, they faced the LA Kings in round 1, and for the 4th straight year, they beat them. They then beat the Vegas Golden Knights in 5 games in round 2 and Dallas Stars in round 3. The Oilers are lead by Connor McDavid, the best player in hockey, and Leon Draisatl, another one of the best players in hockey. Goalie Stuart Skinner has been great in these playoffs, and the Oilers defense is solid.
My prediction is the Oilers win in 7. This will be a hell of a series, but McDavid and Draisatl will outdo Barkov and Tkachuk. I'm just hoping that Canada gets their Cup back. Please make it happen.B
