Iowa women's basketball phenom Caitlin Clark has broken the all-time women's scoring record last night, surpassing Kelsey Plum of Washington, who scored 3,527 points between 2013-17. Not only that, but she broke her personal record with a career-high 49 points in a 106-89 win over Michigan. Clark hit the record-breaking shot in the first quarter with a three-pointer from near half-court. The Iowa fans at Carver-Hawkeye Arena went crazy after the shot. Iowa, who's No. 4 in the country, improved to 23-3 with the victory, and have a top-15 battle next as they head on the road to play No. 14 Indiana.
This is incredible stuff for Clark. She now has her eyes set on the all-time Division 1 basketball scoring record (men's and women's) currently held by "Pistol Pete" Pete Maravich. She's a shoo-in for the No.1 pick in the WNBA draft in April, which the Indiana Fever currently have. Iowa now has their eyes set on their first ever national championship in March.
