Sovereignty wins Kentucky Derby

Sovereignty won the 151st Kentucky Derby this evening, narrowly beating out favorite Journalism. Sovereignty's pregame odds were 5-1, only trailing Journalism. Trainer Bill Mott won his 2nd Kentucky Derby. His first came in 2019, when his horse Country House won via disqualification of the first-place finisher. Following the race, Mott told NBC, "This one did it the right way. He's done well; he's a great horse. He comes from a great organization."

The Kentucky Derby is always great. It's always exciting and this year was no different. Sovereignty and Journalism were neck and neck. If Journalism had gone just a little bit faster, he might've won. But it made for a great finish.
