76ers fire head coach Doc Rivers

The Philadelphia 76ers fired head coach Doc Rivers on Tuesday. The Sixers suffered their third straight second-round series loss, this time to the hated Boston Celtics. They were up 3-2 and things looked to be different, but they just collapsed in game 6 and melted down in game 7. Tobias Harris looked terrible all series, putting up 2 points in game 6, and never coming through when it mattered.

This is great. Doc Rivers never was good for Philly and the team was never good under him. He never led them past round 2, and was terrible in game sevens. The team just faltered in this series, and never recovered. I think their "Process" officially failed.

Back when the 76ers were at the bottom of the league, GM Sam Hinkie drafted Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, saying that they were the future. At first, they seemed to be the future, both being All-Stars, and Simmons being 2017-18 Rookie of the Year. But then Simmons put up 5 points in a Game 7 in 2021 against the Atlanta Hawks, then sat out the entire following season. He was eventually traded at the 2022 deadline to the Brooklyn Nets for James Harden, which many thought would result in a championship. Especially when Embiid won MVP this year. But obviously it didn't result in a ring, and now people are calling for Harden to be dealt. So, yeah. I definitely don't think it worked.

Check back soon.
